Office design is important for making a good first impression with clients, but it’s not just clients you can impress with the design of your office. Design has a big impact on employees as well, according to Capital One’s 2018 Work Environment Survey. In this article, we are going to dive a little deeper into the study and what it means for workplace design.
Office Design Stimulates Innovation
The survey gathered responses from 3,500 full-time professionals from across the United States (including 500 from New York). Here are some key takeaways from the survey:
- 79% of those surveyed believe that a company can’t encourage innovation unless their work space is innovative.
- 66% of those surveyed thinks that office design is equally important or more important than office location.
- 85% of those surveyed highlighted flexibility as an important element of workplace design.
“Professionals today have high expectations for their experience in the workplace and what their employer provides for them,” Capital One Vice President, Workplace Solutions Stefanie Spurlin said in a statement. “By providing dynamic spaces to accommodate all kinds of work styles, companies can help facilitate the kind of collaboration and innovation that empowers employees to create breakthrough products and solutions for their customers.”
It’s clear that office design has an impact on employee retention – so what can you do to update your office space?
